Mission: To combat childhood obesity by encouraging children to exercise through bike riding.
Goal: To provide the entire student body of Frank L. Stanton Elementary (279 students) with a new bike and helmet and to provide bike safety training.
Within a 12-month period, everyday citizens contributed more than $15,000 to the campaign, LWF presented 279 bikes and helmets to the students of Frank L. Stanton School and the Bellwood Unit of the Salvation Army Boys & Girls Club. The bike event was held at Frederick Douglass High School which, in turn, encouraged a focus on education and community.
