"Threads of Love" Haiti Pillowcase Dress Project - 5,167 Dresses Donated - Oct. 2011
"People understand suffering and want to help. "Threads of Love" gave everyday people the opportunity to be a part of something bigger than themselves." - Lila Womack
Mission: To provide pillowcase dresses for the orphans and poverty-stricken girls in Haiti.
Goal: To involve the community in making 5,000 pillowcase dresses to donate to the Haiti Care Mission.
"Threads of Love" was an inter-generational global initiative that solicited new pillowcase donations and seamstresses from across Georgia and six other states, including Washington, DC. As a result of Lila's hard work, dedication and leadership, within a four-month period, seamstresses, individuals and organizations contributed thousands of pillowcases to the “Threads of Love” project. In fact, 5,167 new pillowcase dresses were shipped to the Haiti Care Mission.
Lila's Post Project Statement: "People understand suffering and want to help. "Threads of Love" gave everyday people the opportunity to be a part of something bigger than themselves."
